Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Pending License accepted Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH required Must-Have: - Titration of vasopressors - Management of sedation medication - Insulin drips - Trach vents - Arterial lines - External pacemakers - Chest tubes - Must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months Description: This position is for a step-down unit that operates during night shifts. Ratios in this unit are 1:4. 2 years of experience is required. First-timers are accepted. Weekend requirements include 2 shifts every other weekend, which can be either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday, depending on the established rotation. The clinician will float to lower acuity floors to meet facility needs. Special procedures and equipment experience are necessary. Contributions to patient care include titration of vasopressors, sedation medication management, and care of high-acuity patients. The unit provides care for adults and typically sees a daily census of 25 patients. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Travelers need proficient experience in specific procedures and equipment used in this high-acuity setting. Compliance with facility policies regarding time off and schedule requests is required. Additional requirements include completing labs and modules within specified timeframes.
